The Friends of Cheltenham Samaritans are a small fundraising group that first formed in 1979. Our ethos has always been to have fun fundraising and this is one of the reasons we are still going all these years later.
We have raised money from many different sorts of events over the years (see our History section for more info), but these days we primarily raise money from our beer festivals and from stewarding at the Glastonbury festival and other events. We also run a monthly lottery called the 250 club.
Our active committee generally has between 10 and 14 members and we meet on a monthly basis to ensure that the events that we run are well managed and supported. We have a very important wider group of supporters who come along to events and help us with things like ticket sales and publicity.
The Cheltenham branch of the Samaritans costs somewhere in the region of £30-£35K to run annually and our group generally provides just over one third of those running costs from our fundraising activities.
