The Cheltenham Coat of Arms and the Mayor of Cheltenham

The Mayor's Charity 2021/2022: Friends of the Cheltenham Samaritans

I have chosen one Charity as the Mayors Charity for the Civic year 21-22 and for me it was an easy decision. COVID-19 is a viral pandemic which does not discriminate about who it infects. I wanted a Charity that reflected support to all of our Borough Community and did not discriminate on the grounds of age, religion, gender, colour or sexuality. The Friends of Cheltenham and District Samaritans personify that cause in their support of the local Samaritans

- Councillor Steve Harvey, Mayor of Cheltenham

Friends of the Cheltenham Samaritans

The Friends of the Cheltenham Samaritans have worked hard for over 40 years, raising funds and the profile of Samaritans, to help the people of Cheltenham to have their amazing services maintained locally. The listening service has always been very active and has been even more essential during the present pandemic. So many people find comfort in the listening ear of the Samaritans. All services are operated by volunteers but keeping all forms of communication open at all times can be tough.

The Friends would like to invite anyone who would like a little help with their mayors charity fundraising event to get in touch.
